Many believe that the vicim wants the ofender to be punished. They have wanted to amend the cc to add vicim rights. There are protecions for the accused so they want equal protecions for the vicim: the government is more likely to enact changes to the cc through punishment rather than giving money (funding) to vicims and services. It is easier for them use criminal law than to actually ind out what the vicim actually wants: rise of vicims" rights*, vicimizaion surveys. Vs play an important role in recognizing crime vicims in the cjs. They made people focus on reforms of the cjs. The government was concerned with trying to ease the public conidence about the cjs ater they abolish capital punishment they were concerned that people were losing faith in the cjs because they abolished capital punishment. Vs were originally part of a crime control strategy to ind out what the vicim wanted.
