Due to the intelligence testing industry, we test to the industries definition of intelligence. Intelligence: problem solving skills and the ability to adapt and learn from life"s everyday experiences. This cannot be directly measured, may be evaluated. We must gage your intelligence by your acts. However we have a hard time agreeing on what is an intelligent action. Western definition: emphasize adaptation, basic mental process, higher order thinking and speed of processing: ex: speed is highly emphasized. Other perspectives of intelligence: yang and sternberg: 5 factors underlying taiwanese chinese conceptions of intelligence. General cognitive factors, interpersonal intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence : das: buddhist and hindu intelligence= waking up, noticing, recognizing, understanding, ruzgis and grigorenkoo: africa.
