Principles of meritocracy is deeply rooted in liberalism: limited/restrained government, encompasses the political mainstream in canada, important to remember that even though it is mainstream now, liberalism was once considered radical for the time. Social stratification theory: based off of max weber (established academic/liberal) Marxist class theory: social stratification analyzes social inequality with a focus on status, status=a persons position in society or within a social structure.
