You are working with social policy anytime you are working as a social worker. It"s important that you know how social policy affects your clients (how it effects them, what their responsibilities are, what they are eligible for, etc. You need to know the rules and what is going on for activism. For example, child welfare is after a family you need to know what the rules are so you can help the family out. You also need to know where you can get information about programs and social policies. It is typical that social workers are questioned for actually doing their job. Child/youth services are the ones that get it the most. For example, taxpayers want to know if their tax dollars are actually being used for what they are supposed to do (cid:498)we"re paying taxes, but nothing is actually happening.
