Triple-P Positive Parent Training
Positive Parent Program!
-Preventing behavioural, emotional, developmental problems by enhancing the
knowledge, skills and confidence of parents!
-focuses on behaviour AND family relationships !
-focuses on the positive- creating nurturing relationships, good communication and
positive attention!
-5 Levels of Support (formats: self-directed, individual, group)!
•Level 1: Print and Electronic Information !
-increase parent awareness of resources !
•Level 2: Brief Selective Training!
-specific concern about the child’s development/problem!
-receive advice over the phone, through individual, and group therapy (a couple
sessions)!
•Level 3: Narrow Focus Parent Training!
-specific concern about the child’s development/problem!
-includes rehearsal and self-evaluation!
-averages 2-4 individual/group sessions (skills training)!
•Level 4: Broad Focus Parent Training!
