Organisms are adapted to the environment they live in, otherwise they would not survive. How there is large dogs and small dogs. Ex: white pin is adapted to the conditions in northeastern ontario: harsh climate, rocky grounds. ~ when climate gets warmer, white pine is predicted to be able to grow further north but disappear in the south. The species may also evolve to be competitive under warmer temperatures. White pines have a thick bark and can usually survive small fires. Because conditions are changing they are moving north: following the conditions: the seeds will go north and so on and so on, through wind or animals ow tive als. Adaptation: any heritable behavioural, morphological or physiological trait, evolved by natural selection that maintains or increases fitness of the organism in prevailing environmental conditions. A selective force may result in an adaptation such as people walking or grass or animals eating it.
