With his platonic academy in florence, he helped to reshape generations of italian leaders and thinkers: his influence. Thanks to the printing press and the new humanist curriculum, his ideas could spread quite quickly. Eventually they"d affect the cities of northern europe: politian. Closer to home, one of ficino"s most prominent disciplies was politian, aka angelo ambrogini. Politian or poliziano was educated in greek and latin by ficino and became italy"s premier classicist: as a tutor. Like ficino, politian enjoyed the patronage of the medici, especially lorenzo. He became the tutor to lorenzo"s children giovanni and piero de medici as well as nephew. Giovanni de medici would go on to became a pope, leo x. Giulio would become pope clement vii: piero the unfortunate. He was exiled from florene in 1494 after his father"s death in 1492: his fate. His fate was sealed due to the invasion of king charles viii of france.
