Mcmahon stadium was originally built in 1960 over a 103 day period on the university of calgary campus, which at the time was the university of alberta campus. Frank and george mcmahon who donated money to the university to ensure the stadium"s completion. Mcmahon is owned by the university of calgary, but is operated by the mcmahon. With a seating capacity of over 34,000 people, it serves as the home field for the calgary stampeders, university of calgary dinos, calgary colts of the canadian junior. Football league, as well as the calgary gators and calgary wolfpack of the alberta football. Mcmahon stadium has hosted 4 grey cups, the 2011 nhl heritage classic, and the opening and closing ceremonies for the 1988 winter olympic and paralympic games in calgary. Mcmahon stadium is divided into 5 different sections: the field, stands and concourse, football building, administration building, and ticket office. All 5 sections work together to keep the stadium operational year round.
