Document Summary
Building alliances and partnerships in the social sector. Origins of collective impact: the term collective impact was first coined by john kania & mark, they looked at various reasons why traditional efforts to collaborate. Why collective impact: influences systemic change, addresses multi root cause issues, is action oriented + outcomes based, breaks down the issues and brings multiple stakeholders together to leverage resources to solve the complex issues. A common agenda: shared understanding of how to reach a common goal, agreed upon allocation of resources, shared understanding of a problem and a joint approach to dealing, conduit to change with the problem. Shared measurement: data collection, applying metrics consistently, using impact statements to ensure that efforts remain aligned, encourages accountability. Each member of the collective impact collaborative activities are differentiated according to what they bring to the table, but remains aligned and coordinated through a mutually reinforcing plan of action.
