Biocentric definition: the rights of non-human resources supersede those of human needs or wants. Ecocentric: suggests humans are part of the biosphere. Resources may be depleted/degraded and/or made obsolete. Resources can be extended (or made to last longer) through technology and management. Flow resources: can be depleted sustained or increased on the basis of management eg. soils, forests, wildlife, fish, water. Stock resource: i) totally physically exhaustible eg, coal, natural gas, uranium. Continous resources: i) availbility endless independent of human skills eg. solar energy, Ii) deplectable but capable of reuse eg. metal tidal energy. Ii) availibility endless but affected by human action eg. landscape. The perception of what an environmental problem differs between society and individuals.
