Ivan pavlov discovered conditioned relexes serve as historical backdrop for current learning theories. The cs becomes an excitor of behaviour (cs+) A sense of fear caused by a loud explosion: relexive, not learned. Step 2:cs #1 + cs #2 no us (learns cs2 is inhibitor, value of cs 1 is gone) In both procedues, cs #2 becomes an inhibitor of behaviour (cs-) Efects on physiology unconditioned responses: stimulating pathways of reward. Drug-predictive stimuli conditioned stimuli: pack of cigarette, needle, person, bag, money, drug paraphernalia. S s* learning stimulus-stimulus learning: s* - very strong, biologically signiicant (food, sex, etc. , s important but not as important, but becomes it as you do conditioning. No: not relexive, responses to food (ie. salivation, shaking, heart rate increase) are. Drinking coca-cola no: not learned. Pseudo-conditioning increased responding to the cs that occurs because of mere exposure to the us response occurs only because there has been increased exposure to the us.
