Cartesian terminology: defining our knowledge in terms of clear and distinct ideas. She warned of the possibilities of error in our sense of perception (when we are considering our knowledge through perception) Our need to belong, influence, greed, ambition- so we really need to know limits of our knowledge. She was skeptical and thinking reliability of senses; and of reason. Contrary to idealists, she held that there are many truths our minds cannot comprehend.
