Document Summary
Unobtrusive methods: unobtrusive methods = form of qualitative data collection that does not require interaction or participation with/by research participants. Like many other qualitative methods, can be used in conjunction with other methods. Historical document analysis when writing a paper: can include analysis of: texts, artifacts, maps, movies, ads, garbage, speeches. = (cid:498)bounded only by the limits of your own imagination(cid:499) (cid:523)p. (cid:883)(cid:884)(cid:883)(cid:524). Sources of analysis: pre-exiting documents, statistical records, maps, letters, physical objects, fiction, many of these sources are blended, g. a letter may also be considered a pre-existing document depending on. No: study/analysis of the data itself, types of questions asked to solicit data, sources of statistical data as rich source of information insurance benefits (p. 122-123) What overarching ideological learning is being advanced: eg. Suicide reports deaths by suicide may not be classified as such for: maps represent a (cid:498)translation of reality(cid:499) (p. 124)
