After analyzing this article, it is evident that it is based on the everlasting controversies between the claims made by science and religion. This article focuses on how religion being a dominant force tries to suppress the scientific boom led by galileo"s startling discoveries. The findings such as gravity and rotation of earth around the sun, led galileo to house arrest and another event named scopes monkey trial clearly depicted how religion shaped the minds of the masses. The first cluster of principles fits this article the best, shedding light on structural functional perspective, scientific sociology, surveys, and quantitative data. Galileo"s scientific revelations acted as a manifest function which altered the fabric of the society. This created a slow but steady social dysfunction which opposed the false teachings of the suppressors. With the dawn of modernization the social perspective of people demonstrated a change as they accepted the hidden reality.
