Idea at how looking at how crime at one point was solved by the community (types of third parties dealing with various problems with conflict- courts, police etc) Conflict is not something to be solved, but owned. Taken conflict away from the hands of the community. Looks at taking back the ownership of conflict taken from the community, lost to third parties. Loss of clarifying various norms (clarification, why are they wrong to begin with) Reinforcing, why the act was wrong, know exactly why we are punishing you and doing what you are doing. Ability for community to resolve conflict, conflict given back to the community much more empowering. Critical of institutions: wrote a book about jail systems, and the removal from society. Become third parties of justice, warehouses of justice. Go to solve the issues and problems you have. Self confidence and self esteem in communities have declined. Accountability of crime is minimal (accountability of the victims)
