People make the argument most training comes from the street, that"s why they argue that you don"t need post secondary. Senior officers and status senior officers find education a bit of a threat in terms of social status, feel like they are going to move up the hierarchy better. More articulate, better spoken, better with the public: better written skills, fewer citizen complaints. Higher education less likely to receive complaints: initiative and adapt quickly. How they deal with the public, and other officers: likely to be promoted, appreciate complexity of justice system. Have idea about what it should be and when they find out it is not they lose heart: more likely to request reassignment, question orders. More likely to say they don"t like the job.
