Identify ways in which humans have signi cant impact on soil pro le. In some cases, remediation or site restoration methods include the complete removal of soil. New pro les may be created from stockpiled materials. Could be from physical disturbance like building a road, or where there has been a chemical contamination and the soil has to be removed treated and returned. Important to classify the soil because when you have to reclaim it you have to rebuild it to the classi cation. Goals: you could change the soil for di erent reasons like infrastructure, or roads. The mine spoils and the soil that they are going to recreate on top is contained so water runo will not contaminate any other water. Productive soil on top of mine spoils will help vegetation grow and keep the water table low so it wont come up and potentially get contaminated.
