The trojan saga is a series of stories, with the most famous story being the iliad. The iliad is a very limited account since it only spans over a couple of weeks while the trojan saga spans several years. Zeus discovers that thetis (whom he had an affair with) will have a son that is greater than the father, so he marries her off to peleus. The child is achilles, who becomes greater than peleus. All of the gods and goddesses are invited to the wedding except for eris, goddess of strife. Eris decides to show up anyways and presents a wedding gift, the golden apple which belongs to the fairest. The goddesses hera, aphrodite, and athena fight over who deserves the apple. Zeus, not wanting to be caught in between, appoints paris as the judge. When paris was born, he was prophesied to be the child that caused the destruction of troy, so his parent"s.
