They are expected to perform tribal music and dances for tourists. Devoid of their original ceremonial content, these aspects of tribal culture may become trivialized, devalued & meaningless. Indigenous culture is devalued & stereotypes are reinforced & perpetuated. Governments are guilty of exploiting indigenous culture to promote tourism while at the same time destroying indigenous peoples" forests & dispossessing them of their land.
