Psych is the software of the brain
This lecture is the hardware
In order to be functional (P x E -> person interacting with the environment) you
have to get the world inside our brain
Afferent -> incoming direction
o Sensation makes this possible (vision, audition, etc.)
Once material is in nervous system, interpretation occurs
o PERCEPTION -> putting meaning to it
Central nervous system constantly bringin in and interpreting infor
o Occurs in the brain
Axons travel in bundles: NERVES
Three Kinds of Neurons
Info comes into neuron via dendrites, processed by soma, info sent out through axon
Optic nerve -> takes in visuals, sends to brain to process
o Everything has this kind of relationship
Motor also deals with hormones
