People go along with what most people have to say. About how people responded to what others had to say. Autokinetic effect: seeing something that isn"t really there. Norm formation: over a period of time people come to a mutual agreement on a subject, relate this to norms in society, beliefs can be transmitted up to five generations (if you use na ve people) People around us can influence how we think and act, even people we don"t know. Suicide rates are increased in areas with small plane crashes: approx. 35% more suicides: suggested action if people are already thinking of killing themselves so they think now is the time to do it (pilot killed himself, why can"t i?) People had to make judgements of certain lines. Confederates give the wrong answer to observe subject"s response: a third of the subjects gave the wrong answer, 70% of subjects said the wrong answer is right.
