Politics: process of collective decision making processes, the affairs of the city itself. It can be expressed through cooperation, competition, conflict. Power is considered a capacity to act through --> the ability to make decisions and act them out, could be executed through: Manipulation (i. e. tricks/deceit) --> considered attractive but has a bad disadvantage. Consent --> when the authorities attain consent to create power (i. e. legitimate authority/persuasion/internalized behavior) You persuade other people into believing that giving consent is the best possible solution. The idea that there is no alternative solution. Michel foucault"s conception of power --> principles of the conception of power. Power is not something that someone holds, power is diffused rather than concentrated --> it is out there. It is embodied and enacted rather than possessed, if you stop enacting power, power may be lost. Rules are in place not just for tradition, but also to perform certain acts of power.
