Personality a person"s characteristic and enduring style of behaving, thinking, and feeling. Describes properties of people, much like adjectives describe properties of things. Experience: years in school, number of siblings. State differences temporary differences between people"s psychology (hunger, anger) Trait differences permanent, enduring differences between people"s psychology (shyness, friendliness courage) Personality factors underlying traits on which all people can be high, low, or anywhere in-between. Psychodynamic approach (freud): conflicts in our unconscious mind. Humanistic approach: unique challenges of being human and existing in the world. Social-cognitive approach: to understand yourself and how you relate to other people. Self-report measures people are asked questions about themselves and answer them on a scale from not at all to very much .
