The materials and resources that people need to be able to produce such as land, raw material, factories, tools. The capitalists/bourgeoisie: those that own the means of production. The workers/proletariat: those that do not own the means of production. They must sell their labour time to survive. Focus on producing profit in the market place (key goal). Capitalist are constantly trying to out sell other capitalist and kick them out of the market by raising prices, etc Consequences of private property and the pursuit of profit in a competitive market: Workers are paid a wage only enough for them to subsist.
