A system of ethics: “ a set of standards governing the conduct of a person or the members of a
profession”.
Ethics in Psychological Research
Psychologists follow the code of ethics established by the APA
In general psychologists must:
A. Treat human research participants with respect and dignity.
Institutional Review Board: Weighing benefits and costs, does the project meet ethical guidelines
Degree of risk to subjects:
- No risk (could be exempt of review)
- Minimal risk (expedited review)
- At risk (full review)
