8 views2 pages

Document Summary

White matter white colour is due to the lipid content of the myelin. Gray matter cell bodies, axon terminals and dendrites. K+ has to ooze out and na+ goes in. Movement of na+ and k+ goes on to create an action potential. Neurotransmitter and neuromodulators pre and post synaptic neurons. Plenty of vesicles once the signal comes in, they dock onto the membrane and dispose of contents. The action of nt take place which arouses the receptor on the postsynaptic cell. There are enzymes that break the nt down or it is recirculated and taken up again by the pre-synapse to be put into new vesicles. Peptides neuromodulators control intensity of signal. Docking vesicles fuse on the membrane and released on the postsynaptic membrane. There is so much dopamine being produced or there is an over-supply of receptors on the synaptic cleft that allow further activity. Dopamine being released is not broken down enzymes are lacking.
