Kinship and relatedness: anthropologists and kinship (d. schneider, we are all born of mothers and fathers and are a part of families. It is for this reason that they exert power over us: they appear to be true because we believe they are true and make us related, point 3: whatever nature is, it cannot be taken for granted. It varies among kinship systems in different cultures and societies; anthropologists studied this: these analyses were driven by western beliefs, kinship varied from society to another but was built on the same biological facts. In order to see what they can be about, we have to go out and ask: kinship can be about all sorts of things, 1. Kinship is not often as discussed, but relatedness: this is what anthropologists talk about today, gets away from a western bias of sexual reproduction, shift from kinship to relatedness, 2.
