Culture-specific syndromes (css) health problems associated with specific cultures social factors, biophysical symptoms, can be fatal see textbook for examples. Major example in america is anorexia/bulimia difficult to cure medically, no biological explanation, cultural link. Ethno-etiologies: cross-cultural explanations for cause of health/suffering can focus on various factors (natural, structural, psychological, supernatural) structural: caused by war, famine, migration, poverty, etc. Community: group energy is key to cure, informal, open access. Globalization and change all aspects of health systems change and evolve new infectious diseases, diseases of development .
