Document Summary

Gene is the segment of dna which controls a hereditary trait i. e. encodes information for protein or function rna, as a linear sequence of nucleotides. Gene a, b and c on the dna are transcribed into rna a, b, c respectively. The rna a, b, c are translated into proteins a, b, and c respectively. Different genes will be transcribed at different levels and translated at different levels. Depends on environmental factors, biotic and abiotic factors. The genes can be rapidly transcribed but moderately translated. Signals that initiate transcription and terminate transcription. Translated region i. e. protein coding region is within the 5" and 3" and has these sequences. For recognition and it tells me that the transcription machinery conserved. For survival as mutation can affect the genome of the organism and so by being conserved the machinery and the regions have not been altered. A sequence that has been conserved through evolutionary time.
