Document Summary

Calcium hydroxide ca(oh)2 is an inorganic compound which is usually called slaked lime (1). In this lab, the purpose is to examine the solubility properties of ca(oh)2. The properties of ca(oh)2 will be examined under different temperatures: room temperature, 60-80oc, and at boiling point temperature. The calculations of the solubility product constants of each temperature will be done through the following reaction: Please refer to the lab manual, pages 87 to 89. (1) The following changes were made to the procedure described in the lab manual: 20g of ca(oh)2 were used instead of 3. 6g. o c. 100ml of distlled water was used instead of 180ml. 10ml of ca(oh)2 was used instead of 5ml. 0. 029m of ca(oh)2 x 2 mol of oh- / 1 mol of ca(oh)2 = 0. 058m of oh- 0. 058m of oh- x 1 mol of ca2+ / 2 mol of oh- = 0. 029m of ca2+
