The training each role requires specific set of training/skill to ensure that appropriate info is obtained and understood: Scene of crime officer (soco)/specialized officer: soco are taught advanced crime scene investigation and photography skills (e. g. break and enter, specialized officers have training related to a particular investigative skill (e. g. underwater recovery, drug officers, k-9 handlers) Forensic identification officer (fio: advanced crime scene investigation and photography skills in processing of all criminal investigations (includes more serious cases like homicides) fio training is prescribed by the criminal code of canada.
