Variable) while other variables (z) that might a ect behaviour are held constant (i. e. , ruled out) Variables: x- independent variable(iv) x axis, y- dependent variable(dv)y axis, Example: want to prove that alcohol consumption (x) decreases ne motor ability (y) while controlling for (z) To prove that x causes y we have to measure the behaviour y twice (ex. once with alcohol, once without alcohol) Once when x is there (to cause the behaviour) One when x is not there (to see that the behaviour does not get caused) It looks at the a ect of variable x on y, while controlling for z.
