Document Summary

Social psychology- is the branch of psychology concerned with the way individuals thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are influenced. Person perception- the process of forming impressions of others. Attractive people tend to be seen as more sociable, friendly, poised, warm, and well adjusted. But little correlation exists between these two. People with a baby face are viewed as more honest, submissive, warm, naive and trustworthy. Social schemas organized clusters of ideas about categories of social events and people. Stereotypes- widely held beliefs that people have certain characteristics because of their membership in a particular group. There are age, gender, ethnic, and occupational stereotypes. Self fulfilling prophecy if you hold strong beliefs about the characteristics of another group, you may behave in such a way so as to bring about these characteristics. Students interviewed in the non-immediate style seemed for anxious and did not perform as well as others.
