Repeated exposure=gain familiarity and attraction to such faces. How do we perceive the attractiveness of our faces. Given a choice of rating the attractiveness--we prefer an image of an inverted mirror. Our friends prefer the unaltered version of our face. Exp: rating twin and unaltered face, people rated their twin as more attractive than the altered face. The coolidge effect: sexual attractiveness can be different from our facial attractiveness. Exp: measured the size of an erection, and then presented them with sexualized videos. Men who see the same video decrease their sexual response with each session (habituation) In an experiment, researchers held up 2 pictures of female faces to the participant. They had a concealed alternative photo behind the visible photos [participants are unaware of this] When the participant chooses which one they think is more attractive, experimenter flips down the picture and slides it to the participants [giving them the alternative that was concealed]
