Document Summary

Soc100 lecture #5 tuesday, january 21, 2020. What is accepted and what is not between one another is very culturally coated. One of the most widely used sociological tool. How is one phenomenon related to a social context or variable. In surveys you look for association between x and y, cause and effect scenario, how one affects the other. Best is random sampling, so bias does not intervene with the results (every 10th person come and get the questionnaire random sampling) Convenient sampling start with people you know. Bias when it comes to snowball sampling biased reference to the people they know and are. Snowball sampling one refers the survey to another, who proposes this idea to another referring to. Closed-ended questionnaire easier to analyze, only give limited options in the questionnaire (able to categorize the results) Open-ended questionnaire not giving any kind of numerical options (write whatever they want, full reasons)
