Document Summary

How to write an open-book essay test: outline. Two students are debating over coffee in the cafeteria. Sue says, the main problem with utm, from a student"s point of view, is that it has too much bureaucracy. There have to be better ways of managing this place! sam disagrees. Markers deduct marks for material that isn"t relevant. Part a) decide your position on the topic. This is where you start consulting your notes and text. Eg: because of so many ways students are different (courses, programs, etc. no set of bureaucratic rules can cover all possibilities. Part c) find course material to support each of your key points. This is where you make an outline. Lecture: give lecture number, eg: culture changes slowly (kervin, lecture #6). In your essay: give author and page number. At end, in a reference section, give complete bibliographic information author, title, publication date enough so marker can find it.
