The hoc is also where the mp debate: debate bills- legislation, express opinion- pass resolutions, debate gov performance- through question period. A way of keeping the gov is held accountable. Gov will often try to avoid answering question period. Backbenchers can also ask questions, cabinet cannot. Poli sci nov 27/17: the gov must always hold the confidence of the hoc, expressed through two ways. Voting to keep the gov in power on any explicit non-confidence motion: two types of bills. Gov bills- introduced by a cabinet member and considered confidence motions.
