On february 3rd of 1851 in the meridian room of the paris observatory, the great. French physicist leon foucault unveiled a new contraption of his. This genius had already created a device to measure the speed of light using a mirror and cogs of a wheel with pinpoint precision (2). Well, the public gathered around to see this new creation and saw a pendulum. This pendulum wasn"t any pendulum no, it was an experiment to demonstrate the rotation of the earth (1). What these men traced effectively proved the world was spinning around some sort of axis. This was only the first of many specialized pendulums, which would later become known as foucault pendulum. A second would-be built-in front of the city of paris at the lovely pantheon building by having a 220-ft cable suspend a 61-pound brass bob. It would trace lines in the same it was lifted over and, over time, the angles of these lines would change.
