Things don"t contain meaning, but rather our experiences of things creates. Musical meaning is shaped for a listener by many kinds of constraints. Listeners who share constraints in common are likely to derive similar meanings. No unified meaning but there can be shared meaning from a musical work. 3 types of listeners for this course. Performers: (instructions from composter, (training and skill as performers, timbre, sound characteristics, expression, tempo, dynamics, phrasing, re-arrangement, (esp. forces, recording techniques, ways you could change sound during recordings. The members: george harrison: lead guitar (plays chords and melodic lines, ringo starr: drums, paul mccartney: bass (melodic line but with the rhythm section, john lennon: rhythm guitar (plays chords with the rhythm section) Liverpool: very important port in northern england (40% of: the blitz, world war ii, 1940-1942, liverpool was the victim of bombings. Post war the british focused on repairing london not liverpool.
