News gathering means journalists who report the news. Summarize and link to other peoples news. Matters because you might not get the whole picture (pov) Discourages news outlets from doing expensive and tough work. Audiences are fragmented and narrower because of so many outlets of media. Liberals what things tha confirm their point of view. So you basically select the type of news you want to hear. Narrowcasting - now we all see what we want or not see it at all. Has effect on government/policies of our country. Many outlets tailor news to appeal to their viewership. Where source of news is coming from( majority: news wires: customers of news wires are ex) nyt. Consortiums are organizations that are member based. Subscription based news for new organizations: major national/regional newspapers.
