Mood disorders and suicide: structure, major depressive episode. Exaggerate elation, joy, euphoria, lasting at least one week. Not due to substance use or medical condition: structure of mood disorders. Unipolar disorders which is just one type of an episode. Bipolar disorders have both mania (primarily) and depressive episode called dysphoric manic episode or mixed manic episode: depressive disorder, major depressive disorder. A recurrent thing separated by at least 2 months which is considered to be full remission. Tend to last 4-9 months if left untreated: persistent depressive or dysthymia. Difference is that for this condition at least 2 symptoms and a low mood. These symptoms last for at least 2 years with no remission: course. A is someone with recurrent major depressive disorder. B is dysthymia because it is not remitting and the mood drop is low. D is a major depressive disorder that never remits- chronic.
