Tuesday, 24 january 2017 the play"s the thing : episode 1 play structure. We know a play"s a play, because: dialogue: what characters say, stage directions: what characters do, aristotle and the poetics: six elements of what a play is the poetics. ^ causal elements in order: subplot secondary lines of action intertwined with primary plot, discovery occurs when something crucial is found, learned or realized, reversal when the discovery leads to questioning everything, against the causal structure poststructuralism. Tuesday, 24 january 2017: they perform the action of the play, protagonist / antagonist, we know who they are based on, what other characters say about them, what the author/playwright says about them, what they say about themselves.
