Read: stewart 2002: history of archaeology, postprocessual archaeology (1980-2016, seven major developments, feminist approaches in archaeology. A critique in the arch literature of androcentric assumptions (male centric views of archaeology and interpretations)\ Reconstructions of the past are male dominated man"s past, men are always on the forefront. Women and children are either left out or on the periphery trying to bring women and children into the picture in archaeology. Women weren"t allowed to do field work primarily doing lab work issues raised about women in the field and who was being funded/ promoted. How define sex and gender in past (80s/90s) Gender: culturally constructed, takes into account biological sex, but also refers to what it takes to be social. Gender was not a research issue of any magnitude. Extending back our contemporary experiences and situations in order to study gender not necessarily the same beliefs in the past.
