Fuzzy electron clouds that we can only see because they re ect what we probe. The makeup of matter gets very fuzzy as we look more deeply. Polar: there are a cloud of electrons holding it together like glue, which stick with the oxygen more than the hydrogen and make it slightly negatively charged. The slightly negative part of one molecule will be attracted to the slightly positive part of another molecule (h bond: a weak electrostatic connection) Oh in a larger molecule will give the molecule some polarity. Can easily slide around, which accounts for the liquidity of water.
