Social psychology: the study of individuals and their thoughts, feelings, desires/ motives, and behaviors within social contexts using scienti c methodology e. g. study how social situations involving contact between individuals of di erent groups and prejudice levels. Clinical psychology: focus on understanding and treating psychological di culties and disorders. Care about how people think about the world and whether they"re related to di culties they"re dealing with. Care more about identifying and understanding the atypical behavior e. g. test therapies for people with antisocial personalities who exhibit strong prejudice. Personality psychology: focus on di erences between individuals across situations. Arguably the closest link to social psychology, but the latter looks at how situations a ect people across personalities e. g. develop a measure to identify people whoa re high or low in prejudice. Overarching themes and motivational principles: people construct their own reality to a larger degree than they think. Construals are constructions of reality and shape your behavior.
