Over the next 300 years, china was ruled by multiple rival kingdoms. Sui consolidated kingdoms in the late 500s. *tang dynasty emerged and lasted for 3 centuries. Like rome: center of technology, politics, trade, etc. Powerful group of immigrants from baekje (paekche) in korea. Claimed descent from the legendary emperor kogen/korean nobles.
