Public self: gathering info about urself through the perception of others. Establishes ur sense of self thru the actions+behaviors of other towards u. (ex. If i like singing but someone tells me i sound like shit i"ll think i"m not a good singer). Private self: self looking inward @ emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. Creative illusionism: idea that different theorists developed their theories about personality based on their own experiences+observations. In doing so they get some relief and validation. Paradigms: paradigms of personality serve as maps of the human psyche. Must be able to describe a public and private self. Models: not just the thots you see on insta. Normal and abnormal processes, 3) change processes, 4) development. Nomothetic level of a theory: applies to general public (horoscopes). Idiographic level of a theory: applies to the aspect of the individual and has the ability to individually understand someone.
