Life of a saint: female sanctity in the early middle ages. According to what we have been reading, what does it mean to be a good christian in the early. Clovis, king of the franks (r. 481-511) and clotild, his catholic wife; clovis converts to catholic. Virginity as a way to avoid male domination through marriage and gain some independence. Radegund: taken prisoner of the frankish king clothar, who later married her. Preferred to avoid sex and other indulgences of the flesh. Genre of hagiography: writings about saints: rejected marriage, babies, and motherhood, earthy families. The characteristics outlined in the life of radegund and christianity during medieval times was a strong devotion to their religion by demonstrating to others and also demonstrating to themselves a strong discipline of doing what god says. They seperate themselves from everything unholy and sinful and try to live by the good in the world. The barbarian invasions and the division of the roman empire-200a. d. -600a. d.
