Lecture 2= cardiac cycle/ factors that change cardiac output. 1)list the phases of the cardiac cycle and describe the relationships between: ventricular pressure, aortic pressure, atrial pressure, ventricular volume, and the electrocardiogram associated with each phase. Av valves close, causing lub: ventricular pressure is increasing but is still < aortic. 2)identify first and second heart sounds within wiggers diagram and the source of these sounds. Wiggers diagram- combines everything you need to know about the heart and coordinates it on one chart: cardiac cycle, volume and pressure changes, ekg, and heart. Lub: closing of mitral/bicuspid and tricuspid valves- these heart valves are the atrioventricular ones-- essentially the closing of the valves between your atria and ventricles causes this soundduring beginning of systole. Dup: closing of aortic and pulmonic valves- these are the valves leading out of your heart into you veins/arteries/and body-- end of systole.
