A successful profiler will possess: (1) understanding of human psychology, (2) investigative experience - may provide specific information including: psychopathology, family history, education, legal history, habits, social interests. Decision process models: organizing inputs into meaningful patterns. Crime assessment: reconstruct the behavior of the offender/victim (organized vs. disorganized) Criminal profile: initial description of most likely suspects. Mass murderer = kills 4 or more victims at one location. Spree killers = special form of mass murderers; attackers who kill victims at two or more different locations with no cooling off interval.
